I did some experiments with some new multicoloured torches that Laura and i bought and its alot harder than i looks getting the image right as alot of these failed. It would be alot easier with someone else helping out. But with some practice my attempts wont be as poor. The colour of the torches are: red, blue, green and Yellow.

During Christrmas 2010 i had a little experiment with light painting with the help of my brother, sister and cousin. We used the phone light from my phone and some glowsticks to see if it would work and how it would look. My cousin and sister did most of them as i was in charge of the camera and thought it would be more fun for them. The effect from the glowsticks are quiet interesting as the colours fade together and in one picture you can see where the glowsticks have been as they leave a trail.

Light Painting

Laura my partner was looking at movement and rhythm in art when she came up with light painting, so we decide to look further into it and we came up with some good ideas for it.

These are some pictures of light painting.

These are some videos to do with light painting, some are tutorials and some are videos showing peoples work.

The advert Talk Talk used paint lighting which was the first think that came to mind when i though of paint lighting.

This is a really helpful website for light painting.

This is a very good Photoshop tutorial for light painting as another alternate.

Even though for Alight we are not allowed to mention the Olympics down in London at Trafalgar Square i found the Olympic countdown and i thought i would put the picture on here, the quality of the picture isnt great as it was taken on my phone that was sadly dying. I also took a picture of the Olympic rings that a suspended in the air at St Pancras Station.

This is what the countdown actually looks like.

London Trip

The London trip was very inspitational and i really enjoyed it. I went to two really good agencies: Inferno and Euro RSCG.
Paul at Inferno gave us great insight into what its like and what it takes to get into a great advertising agency. He talked abit about the work they did and what the people are like working there too.  He was enthusiastic and seemed a very nice guy. The building was also beautiful and very smart and seemed like the sort of place your would enjoy and feel comfortable working in.
At Euro RSCG George gave us the task of choosing between three products and making so design ideas for them. The products were Loctite Glue, Flora Extra Light Butter and HP Hot sauce.

I chose to design for HP Hot Sauce and came up with some very basic simple ideas. George gave some great feedback and gave us some great tips on how to get the really good exciting ideas after you've done the basic ideas. George also recommended a book that we should buy to help us with our career.

Aside from the agencies i extremely enjoyed the sightseeing of London City, as i've been several times before i knew some places and i enjoyed abig walk around the attarctions like Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, London Eye and London Bridge. I also visited places i'd never been before like Camden Town, so i very much enjoyed the trip for both the sights and the eye opening agencies.
I got onto the subject of dancers and different cultures so i decided to get a few pictures of a variaty of different cultures and their dancing.

When i got the brief for Alight and i thought about everything that will be going on during this event afew things came to my mind. When i read about Alight: Twilight which is a show at City Hall featuring local perfomers, a concert if you will i thought about big artist performances. Around the same time Children in Need was on and there was a Manchester Rocks concert for it which i thought could give me a bit of insight into what concerts are like.

Obviously Alight is going to be nothing compared to concerts like theses but it has the same elements.

When i read the brief i noticed it said ' a substantial list of performers, venues and events' which will be taking place all over Sheffield, i instantly thought about musicians playing in the streets and dances and it made me think of New Orleans in America and that lead to the tv series Treme which is about New Orleans after the Hurricane Katrina. It reminded me of the musicians playing in the street to bring up the spirits of the people and obviously to make a living, but it made me think of how much people love the music down there and they all join in. So i thought this could be a good idea to put this into my research.
